Rock Show!

En el año 1974, despues de haber lanzado "Band on the Run", Paul McCartney sumo a la formacion de Wings a dos musicos de nivel destacado quienes serian protagonistas de diversas disputas, las cuales llevaron a una re-alineacion de la banda.

A principios del año 1975, comenzaron las sesiones de grabacion de Venus and Mars.

Seis meses despues, las peleas cada vez mas intensas y frecuentes entre Geoff Britton (bateria) y Jimmy McCulloch (guitarra electrica), concluyeron tras la exclusion de Britton y la llegada de un nuevo baterista (y de que nivel!) llamado Joe English, que ademas hacia coros.

Britton se fue de la banda antes de terminar el album, habiendo participado solamente en "Love in Song", "Letting Go" y "Medicine Jar" (con Jimmy McCulloch a cargo de la voz principal)

Wings termino de grabar Venus and Mars con Joe English a cargo de la bateria, conformando la alineacion de la banda con Jimmy McCulloch, Denny Laine, Joe English, Paul y Linda McCartney hasta el año 1978 despues de dar una serie conciertos en giras y habiendo grabado "Wings at the speed of sound (1976)", "Wings Over America" (disco en vivo que registra sonidos de varios conciertos de la gira del 76') y "London Town".

Venus and Mars incluye canciones con influencias y sonidos antiguos como lo son "You Gave Me The Answer" (en esta cancion el efecto en la toma vocal de McCartney recuerda a Honey Pie, de aquel glorioso White Album), "Magneto and Titanium Man", "Call Me Back Again" y "Listen to What the Man Said".

Otro de los temas del tracklisting, "Spirits of Ancient Egypt", demuestra la calidad ritmica de Joe English, el brillante trabajo de armonias vocales entre Denny Laine (en esta ocasion a cargo de la linea vocal principal) con Paul y Linda en los coros y el toque rockero de McCulloch en los pasajes de guitarra (mas intenso aun en temas como Medicine Jar, Rock Show y Letting Go).

En la gira que registra Wings Over America, Wings solia abrir sus conciertos con un Medley.

Este incluia el principio del album Venus and Mars... (Venus and Mars/Rock Show) y continuaba con el clasico rockero del album Band on the Run (Jet)
